About
At Alderwood Vision Therapy Center we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of vision related learning problems. We have the equipment, individualized therapy rooms and staff to diagnose and treat the following problem areas:
- Visual Perception Therapy.
This is required to help a child develop the skills he/she needs in the area of motor control, eye- hand activity and visual memory skills necessary to read. - General Binocular Dysfunction.
This is required when there is failure of the two eyes to work together, resulting in eye strain and fatigue (especially in near work). If untreated, reduced comprehension and dislike for reading are common. - Strabismus and Amblyopia Therapy.
This is required when an eye turns in or out, or there is lazy eye (even with best correction the eye can't see 20/20). The eyes are trained to be used together as a team.
Vision Therapy uses lenses, prisms and filters in conjunction with specialized instrumentation to improve eye coordination, focusing and tracking skills. It helps eliminate visual stress to make learning and work less tiring. Vision therapy also addresses the ability to understand and remember what is seen, in order for learning to take place.
